  • The aim of the Technology (Mandatory) Years 7–8 Syllabus is to develop students’ ability to design, produce and evaluate quality solutions that respond to identified opportunities and needs. It enables students to justify solutions and to responsibly, safely and creatively use and select materials, tools and techniques.

  • Graphics Technology enables students to practise logical thought and decision-making while developing skills applicable to a range of domestic, commercial and leisure activities. They engage in both manual and computer-based forms of image generation and manipulation and develop knowledge of the wide application of graphics in a variety of contexts and an ever-increasing range of vocations. Graphics Technology also develops students’ technical and visual literacy, equipping them for participation in a technological world.

  • This course is the first half of a two year course in stage 5. The topics to be covered this year are:

    • Our Virtual World: The Internet and Website Development
    • Database Design
    • Digital Media

      The course will be project based with students solving design situations provided within a client brief. Students will produce a small relational database and a small web site containing elements of multimedia.
      The course will be assessed by class tests, project mark, assignments, bookwork and classroom observation mark (cooperation with peer group and class participation)
  • Graphics Technology enables students to practise logical thought and decision-making while developing skills applicable to a range of domestic, commercial and leisure activities.   • This course is the second half of a two year course in stage 5. The topics to be covered this year are:

    • Authoring & Multimedia
    • Robotics & Automated Systems
    • Programming

      The course will be project based with students solving design situations provided within a client brief. Students will built a series of programmable robots using Lego mindstorming kits. They will learn how to construct algorythms and how they are applied in programming, robotics and industry.
      The course will be assessed by class tests, project mark, assignments, bookwork and classroom observation mark (cooperation with peer group and class participation)
